Howard University, a historically Black university in Washington, D.C., unenrolled 502 incoming first‑year students for the fall 2026 semester after they missed a July 10 tuition‑payment deadline and, in some cases, failed to submit required immunization records. Interim President Wayne A. I. Frederick later reported that more than 200 of the affected students have been readmitted after individual case reviews. About 2,200 students remained enrolled after the removal of the 502, and the school received roughly 37,000 applications for the term.
