Howard University readmits 200 students, ranks #1 HBCU in Forbes

Interim president Wayne A. I. Frederick said more than 200 of the over 500 first‑year students who were unenrolled for the fall semester have been readmitted after the university clarified tuition‑balance and immunization requirements. The school, which received about 37,000 applications, now has roughly 2,200 incoming students after 502 were removed.

In a separate development, Forbes ranked Howard University as the nation’s top historically Black college or university, highlighting its high return on investment, graduate salaries, low student‑debt levels and a 90% retention rate. The ranking also noted Howard’s influential alumni network, which includes former Vice President Kamala Harris and other prominent figures.
