Traffic restrictions active in Bogotá and Mexico City
Traffic restrictions and safety guidelines are in effect across major metropolitan areas in Colombia and Mexico.
In Bogotá, the Pico y Placa rotation for Wednesday, August 19, 2026, prohibits vehicles with plates ending in 6, 7, 8, 9, and 0 from circulating between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. Taxis and special transport vehicles with plates ending in 1 and 2 are also restricted during this period. The Secretary of Mobility has issued an alert regarding the ‘Pico y Placa Solidario’ exemption, warning drivers to use only official .gov.co websites to avoid digital fraud and scams.
In the Mexico City Metropolitan Area, the ‘Hoy No Circula’ program for Tuesday, August 18, 2026, restricts vehicles with pink stickers and plates ending in 7 or 8, as well as those with holograms 1 and 2. These measures apply to the 16 boroughs of Mexico City and 40 municipalities in the State of Mexico to reduce emissions. Electric and hybrid vehicles remain exempt from these restrictions.
