HOY TV drama ‘Yi Wo’ pulled from schedule days before premiere

The Malaysian drama series ‘Yi Wo’, starring Leoi Noi and Ali Lee, has been removed from the HOY 77 broadcast schedule just ten days before its scheduled late-October premiere.

HOY parent company, Chow Tai Fook Media and Entertainment, issued a statement explaining that the licensor, Astro, requested to withdraw the authorization for the series shortly before the broadcast date. Executive Director Fung Nga-fan expressed disappointment, noting that the company had already begun promotional activities and would replace the time slot with a Japanese drama.

Following the announcement, online speculation emerged regarding potential industry pressure. However, some netizens have challenged the official narrative, alleging that the series may not have had formal Hong Kong broadcasting rights from the outset. Critics have questioned whether the situation is a result of administrative errors or a public relations tactic to garner sympathy for the channel.
