Hoyerswerda advances structural change through research and healthcare

Hoyerswerda is undergoing significant structural transformation through research, infrastructure, and healthcare investments. At a recent annual reception hosted by Mayor Torsten Ruban-Zeh, officials highlighted the development of the Smart Mobility Lab in Schwarzkollm. Operated by the Technische Universität Dresden, the facility will research automated and networked mobility systems, with staff expected to move in by September 2026.

In addition to mobility research, the city is managing approximately 245 million euros in structural funding across 14 projects, including the electrification of public transport and water supply expansions.

Addressing regional healthcare, Saxony's Social Minister Petra Köpping visited local medical facilities to discuss outpatient and inpatient cooperation. Her visit included the AWO MediCare practice clinic and the Lausitzer Seenland Klinikum, focusing on the challenges of medical training and the provision of specialized care for the broader region.
