Hoymiles launches first UL 3700‑certified balcony solar inverter as eight US states legalize plug‑in systems

Hoymiles introduced the HiFlow Pro microinverter, the first plug‑in solar inverter in the United States to receive UL 3700 certification, a safety standard created for portable balcony solar systems. The product enables renters and homeowners to connect small solar panels to a regular household outlet while providing required anti‑backfeed protection.

By the end of the month, eight states—Utah, Maine, Virginia, Maryland, Colorado, Connecticut, Vermont and New Hampshire—had enacted legislation allowing plug‑in balcony solar, with roughly 30 states considering similar bills. The new inverter aims to lower electricity costs for households and expand access to clean energy, though it is intended for modest power generation rather than fully powering a home.
