HoYoverse Announces Genshin Impact Version 7.0 Release for August 2026

HoYoverse confirmed that Genshin Impact will receive its Version 7.0 update, titled “Everwinter Without Mercy,” on 12 August 2026. The update opens the frozen nation of Snezhnaya, the Cryo Archon’s domain, and introduces major gameplay changes, including a third‑person shooter mode in designated Shadow Realms, a rail‑based train system for fast travel, and new traversal tools such as ice rails and launch pads.

The update adds two new characters: Odette, a 5‑star Cryo sword‑user, and Alyosha, a 4‑star Electro polearm support. Existing characters such as the Traveler will finally unlock the Cryo element, and several previously released characters are expected to return in the new banner cycle. Players can earn roughly 14‑15 000 Primogems during the version’s lifespan, enough for over 80 wishes. The announcement marks the final major nation to be explored in Teyvat and shifts the banner model toward a single premium 5‑star character per major update.
