HP 15-dw1036ne laptop BIOS unlocked using Claude AI
A user of a second‑hand HP 15-dw1036ne notebook (10th‑gen Intel, firmware F.68) employed the Claude Code AI assistant to reverse‑engineer the machine's UEFI BIOS. After dumping the firmware with a CH341A chip programmer, Claude generated patches that bypassed the RSA‑2048 signature check, neutralised the BIOS lock and exposed 55 previously hidden configuration options, restoring full BIOS access.
The demonstration shows that generative AI tools can now assist in complex reverse‑engineering tasks that previously required extensive manual analysis, raising both technical possibilities and security concerns for firmware protection.
