HPD Gojzerica launches third Children's Mountaineering School
The third Children's Mountaineering School, organized by HPD Gojzerica, has commenced with a record turnout of 24 participants. The inaugural excursion took place on Papuk mountain, following a route from the old Tisica quarry toward the Trišnjica destination.
Led by guide Frane Barišić, the children engaged in educational activities focused on mountain safety, navigation, and local ecology. Lessons included identifying various species of frogs, lizards, snakes, and amphibians, as well as studying local flora and fungi. Practical skills taught during the trip included using a compass, determining cardinal directions, and tying the figure-eight knot.
The full program consists of seven excursions, including one two-day trip. Participants will learn about mountain equipment, first aid, nature protection, and artificial rock climbing. To receive a diploma upon completion, children must attend at least 70% of the scheduled outings.
