HPE releases Alletra Storage MP B10000 Release 6

HPE has announced the general availability of its Alletra Storage MP B10000 Release 6. The update aims to provide a truly unified storage solution by bringing block and file workloads onto a single disaggregated scale-out architecture and operating system code base.

The B10000 architecture utilizes a “shared-everything” model that separates compute from capacity. This allows for the independent scaling of performance and capacity, preventing the need for customers to purchase fixed increments of controllers and media together. Additionally, the system includes native ransomware detection across both block and file workloads.

While the B10000 is designed to consolidate block and adjacent file workloads, HPE notes it is not intended for massive-scale, performance-oriented unstructured workloads like AI or analytics, which remain better suited for the HPE Alletra Storage MP X10000.
