HPE secures $1.2 billion AMD Helios order from Vultr
HPE has secured a $1.2 billion order from Vultr to deploy AMD Helios AI Rack systems across Vultr’s United States cloud data centers. This transaction marks HPE’s first order for the new AMD Helios platform.
The AMD Helios system is designed for training trillion-parameter models and high-volume inference. Each rack integrates 72 AMD Instinct MI455X GPUs, AMD EPYC “Venice” CPUs, AMD Pensando Vulcano AI networking cards, and ROCm software. HPE is responsible for providing the networking layer, liquid cooling, and deployment services. The networking architecture includes six HPE Juniper Networking QFX5252 scale-up Ethernet switch trays per rack to connect the GPUs.
Vultr noted that demand for high-performance AI infrastructure continues to exceed available capacity. The deal extends a long-standing relationship between Vultr and Juniper Networks, which continues following HPE’s acquisition of Juniper.
