Hranice region features Veselská lookout tower and European watershed memorial
Near Hranice in the Czech Republic, two distinct local destinations offer unique experiences for short weekend trips.
The Veselská lookout tower, located near the Oder river above the Veselí district, serves as a scenic viewpoint. Designed to resemble a guard tower, the structure is well-maintained with a slate-covered base and provides varying views of the landscape depending on the season.
Approximately 10 kilometers away, situated between Hranice and Bělotín on Jelení kopce, lies the European Watershed Memorial. This site marks the boundary between two major European river basins: water flowing south from the slopes enters the Bečva river basin, eventually reaching the Black Sea via the Morava and Danube, while water to the north flows into the Odra basin toward the Baltic Sea.
