Hristijan Mickoski calls for state anthem respect in schools

Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski has called for the respect and singing of the state anthem in schools across all municipalities. He urged other local governments to follow the example of the Gazi Baba municipality, which recently decided that students should sing the national anthem every Monday before classes begin.

Mickoski addressed questions regarding the use of the Albanian national anthem in ethnic Albanian municipalities, stating he is not opposed to it provided that the state anthem is also played. He emphasized that according to the law and the Constitution, the state anthem must be respected through singing or listening.

The Prime Minister declined to comment on previous statements from the VLEN party regarding potential changes to the state anthem and emblem. While VLEN's platform includes promises of equal legal rights for the use of Albanian national symbols in schools and institutions, the topic has not been formally discussed since the current government was formed.
