TUSAŞ delivers first HÜRKUŞ-II training aircraft to Turkish Air Force

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) has officially delivered the first two HÜRKUŞ-II next-generation basic training aircraft to the Turkish Air Force. The delivery ceremony took place at TUSAŞ facilities in Kahramankazan, attended by officials including the President of Defence Industries, Haluk Görgün, and Air Force Commander General Rafet Dalkıran.

The HÜRKUŞ-II is a domestically developed aircraft with an approximately 80% local content rate. It serves as the first step in Turkey’s manned aircraft development chain, designed to train pilots before they transition to the HÜRJET jet trainer and the KAAN fifth-generation multi-role fighter. The aircraft’s cockpit and avionics architecture are specifically designed to ensure seamless transition between these platforms.

The broader procurement program aims to deliver a total of 55 aircraft to the Turkish Air Force by the end of 2028. Following the initial delivery, the plan includes delivering 12 aircraft by the end of 2026, with subsequent deliveries scheduled to continue through 2027 and 2028. The project also targets international export opportunities, noting a global demand for over 250 next-generation basic training aircraft.
