HRT Director candidates finalized by Croatian Parliament Committee

The Croatian Parliament's Committee for Information, Informatization, and Media has finalized the list of candidates for the Director General of Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT). Six candidates have been deemed eligible: Zlatan Avar, Gordana Grandov, Dražen Miočić, Fran Juraj Prižmić, Mario Raguž, and Tomislav Štengl. The candidates are scheduled to present their programs during a session on Thursday, September 24.

The selection process has drawn criticism from opposition members. Urša Raukar-Gamulin of the Možemo! party has challenged the candidacy of Fran Juraj Prižmić, citing his active roles within the ruling HDZ party and potential conflicts of interest regarding his involvement with Menorah Film. Raukar-Gamulin described certain candidacies as ‘completely unacceptable’ and has called for a delay in the selection process.

Committee President Josip Borić stated that following the presentations, the Committee will select a candidate to propose to the Croatian Parliament for a final decision during a plenary session. Out of eight total applications, two were rejected for failing to meet the necessary requirements.
