HRT revisits cult culinary show ‘Male tajne velikih majstora kuhinje’

HRT has revisited its television archives as part of the ‘Moments to Remember’ project, highlighting the cult culinary program ‘Male tajne velikih majstora kuhinje’ (Small Secrets of Great Kitchen Masters). The show, which aired from 1974 to 1991, featured chef Stevo Karapandža and host Oliver Mlakar.

During its nearly two-decade run, the program produced over a thousand episodes. Karapandža prepared dishes and shared practical culinary advice, while Mlakar facilitated the presentation through his distinctive hosting style. The show focused on accessible recipes that viewers could easily prepare at home without complex techniques or hard-to-find ingredients.

In an era before internet recipes and social media, the program served as a primary source of culinary inspiration, with many viewers manually transcribing recipes into notebooks. The show is remembered for bringing the joy of cooking and table culture into domestic kitchens across the region.
