Hrvoje Mateljić Award for economic journalism opens for applications

The Lider news organization has opened applications for the ‘Hrvoje Mateljić’ Award, which recognizes excellence in economic journalism. The award was established to honor the memory of the late journalist Hrvoje Mateljić, who specialized in telecommunications, mergers and acquisitions, and macroeconomics.

There are four award categories: best economic journalism in print or digital media, best economic reporting in electronic media (radio or TV), best work by a young journalist (under 29), and best journalism regarding artificial intelligence. Each category winner will receive a special recognition and a cash prize of 1,200 euros.

The application period runs from September 21 to October 21, 2026. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on November 6, 2026, at the Westin Hotel in Zagreb.
