HSBC CFO Pam Kaur announces departure amid focus on Hong Kong growth

HSBC Group Chief Financial Officer Pam Kaur has announced her intention to depart the bank after 13 years with the institution, including two years in her current role. Kaur stated her priority is ensuring an orderly handover and advising Group Chief Executive Georges Elhedery on strategic matters during the transition.

Speaking at the Barclays Global Financial Services Conference, Kaur highlighted that HSBC remains focused on growth and cost discipline, identifying Hong Kong, wealth management, trade finance, and the United Kingdom as primary priority areas. She noted that the bank’s four main business segments are currently generating returns above the minimum targets established in February.

Kaur specifically emphasized the profitability of HSBC’s Hong Kong operations, noting sustained new-customer activity and significant momentum in the region. Additionally, the bank’s wealth-management business continues to expand across Asia, reporting $22 billion in net new money during the second quarter.
