HSBC India pledges INR 200 crore for financial literacy programme

HSBC India has announced a four-year flagship philanthropy programme, spanning from 2026 to 2030, with a commitment of INR 200 crore to enhance financial literacy across the country. The initiative aims to transition communities from mere access to active, informed participation in the formal financial system.

The programme is designed to build practical skills and confidence in using formal and digital financial services. Key objectives include helping individuals make informed decisions, protecting them from fraud, and strengthening financial resilience and livelihoods. The nationwide rollout will be executed through academic, research, and non-profit partners.

Targeted demographics for the initiative include women, youth, migrant workers, low-income households, persons with disabilities, and first-time users of formal financial services. An advisory group of industry experts will provide guidance to ensure the programme achieves scalable and measurable outcomes.
