Hüseyin Baş announces 10-point agricultural reform package

Hüseyin Baş, leader of the Bağımsız Türkiye Partisi (BTP), has announced a 10-point reform package aimed at restructuring the agricultural sector. The proposal seeks to address systemic issues facing Turkish farmers through several key measures.

The plan includes lifting restrictions, leasing state-owned lands to farmers for symbolic fees, and allowing farmers to determine product prices through producer cooperatives. Additionally, the reform proposes that the state provide advances for 50% of crops at least six months in advance and guarantees protection for domestic producers against imported goods.

Other proposed measures involve using seigniorage income to fund agricultural production, offering zero-interest loans for agri-industry investments, and providing market guarantees. The package also calls for incentives for fertilizer and pesticide investments, as well as retirement and natural disaster insurance support for farmers.
