Hüseyin Vefa Ülgür released after prison sentence for violence

Hüseyin Vefa Ülgür, a former three-term mayor of Selçuk, has been released from prison under judicial control following a 20-month sentence. The sentence resulted from several finalized convictions involving physical violence and threats.

The legal actions against Ülgür stem from multiple incidents: a 2013 assault on a tax official, a 2014 attack on CHP Selçuk District Secretary Atike Posta, and a 2019 incident involving insults and physical intervention against then-Mayor Filiz Ceritoğlu Sengel.

After being incarcerated at Torbalı Prison to serve the sentence, Ülgür was released under the provisions of supervised release (denetimli serbestlik).
