HSG Krefeld Niederrhein loses court case over 2. Bundesliga spot

HSG Krefeld Niederrhein has lost a legal battle to secure a place in the German 2. Bundesliga. The Landgericht Dortmund rejected the club's request for an interim injunction that would have allowed them to compete in the division for the upcoming season.

Krefeld, which was relegated on sporting grounds, had challenged the licensing of rival club HSG Nordhorn-Lingen. The club alleged that Nordhorn-Lingen provided incorrect information regarding its financial situation during the licensing process. If Nordhorn-Lingen's license had been revoked, Krefeld would have been reinstated as the first reserve.

The Handball-Bundesliga (HBL) previously stated that no illegalities were found concerning Nordhorn-Lingen's license. Krefeld is currently reviewing the court's decision with advisors and is considering further legal steps to seek a transparent clarification of the licensing circumstances.
