HSI agent Kent Blacklidge indicted on sexual abuse charges
Kent Blacklidge, a 43-year-old special agent with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), has been indicted by a Baldwin County grand jury in Alabama. The charges include first-degree rape, second-degree rape, first-degree sodomy, second-degree sodomy, incest, and two counts each of first-degree and second-degree sexual abuse involving a juvenile female.
The investigation was initiated on January 11 following reports of sexual abuse. Blacklidge was placed on administrative leave shortly after the probe began.
The Alabama Attorney General’s office has taken over the prosecution after the Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office recused itself, citing Blacklidge’s status as a witness in other cases handled by that office. Attorney General Steve Marshall noted the gravity of the situation given Blacklidge's professional role in investigating child exploitation cases.
