Nantou County Magistrate Hsu Shu-hua registers for re-election

Nantou County Magistrate Hsu Shu-hua has officially registered for re-election, accompanied by 13 Kuomintang (KMT) candidates for local township and city mayoral positions. The group utilized the slogan ‘13+1 Home Run’ to demonstrate party unity and a coordinated effort to secure local leadership across the county.

Hsu highlighted her administration’s achievements, including the repayment of 9.1 billion TWD in debt and the implementation of welfare policies such as free health insurance subsidies for residents aged 65 and older. She also noted ongoing infrastructure projects, including transportation hubs in Nantou, Caotun, Jiji, and Puli, alongside the expansion of the ‘Happiness Bus’ service for rural areas.

In contrast, Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) candidate Wen Shih-cheng has adopted a strategy of supporting various township candidates throughout the registration process. Wen emphasized a focus on new generation leadership and called for rational policy discussions rather than personal attacks during the election cycle.
