Hsu Yao-hsi completes first bullpen session after spinal surgery

Taiwanese pitcher Hsu Yao-hsi of the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks has completed his first bullpen session following spinal surgery. After undergoing endoscopic disc removal in mid-July to treat lumbar and sacral disc herniation, Hsu threw 30 pitches, including fastballs, sliders, and changeups.

Hsu reported feeling good during the session, noting that he used approximately 70 percent effort and experienced no discomfort. While the initial recovery estimate was two to three months, his progress has exceeded expectations. SoftBank pitching coach Shinji Kurano indicated that if the current pace continues, Hsu could return to competitive play as early as September.

Hsu expressed a strong desire to return to the mound during the regular season and potentially participate in the postseason.
