Hsueh Chao-chi proposes development plan for Lotus Pond

Hsueh Chao-chi, a candidate for city council in the Zuoying and Nanzi districts, has introduced the ‘Lotus Pond Ten Perfect Plan’ to revitalize the local area. The proposal aims to transform Lotus Pond from a mere photo destination into a comprehensive tourism and living hub by addressing long-standing issues such as traffic congestion, parking shortages, and a lack of nighttime activities.

The plan focuses on connecting various local resources, including the Confucius Temple, Dragon and Tiger Pagodas, the old city, and traditional markets. Key objectives include improving transportation, developing nighttime waterfront tourism, enhancing accommodation, and integrating cultural tours to encourage visitors to stay longer and support local businesses.

In a separate effort regarding local governance, Hsueh has also been advocating for improved government efficiency in handling resident complaints. Following reports of environmental issues caused by the accumulation of recyclables and waste on private land near Juguang Market, Hsueh urged the Kaohsiung City Government to move beyond simply marking cases as ‘received’ and instead ensure thorough inspections and follow-up actions to resolve public health and safety concerns.
