HTC and Meta advance smart glasses with new AI and privacy features

HTC has announced the VIVE Eagle AI smart glasses, featuring new privacy protections designed to address concerns regarding secret filming. To prevent misuse of recording indicators, the glasses include an LED light that automatically adjusts its brightness based on ambient light to ensure visibility without being overly distracting. Additionally, the device features a voice-command system allowing bystanders to say “stop filming” to immediately cease recording.

Meanwhile, Meta has released the v28 update for its Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. This update introduces pedestrian navigation via voice commands, spatial audio for more immersive sound, and expanded language support, including Mandarin Chinese. The update also includes anti-tampering improvements for the cameras and provides walking directions in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Canada, and select international cities.
