Hôtel de la Marine to host Hanjimania exhibition

The Hanjimania exhibition will take place at the Hôtel de la Marine in Paris from September 9 to 27, 2026, as part of Paris Design Week and the European Heritage Days. The event celebrates the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between France and South Korea by creating a creative dialogue between French contemporary design and traditional Korean craftsmanship.

The exhibition focuses on hanji, a traditional Korean paper made from mulberry fibers that has been produced for over a millennium. This material is currently being considered for inscription on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list.

Six prominent French designers, including Pierre Yovanovitch, Constance Guisset, Aline Asmar d’Amman, Studio KO, Harry Nuriev, and Jérémy Pradier-Jeauneau, will interpret this ancient craft. Their works will be brought to life through the collaboration of renowned Korean artists and masters of art. The exhibition will be hosted within the Appartements des intendants, offering visitors an immersive experience of cross-cultural artistic expression.
