HU University addresses institutional challenges at academic year opening

HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht held its annual academic year opening on campus, hosting approximately 900 attendees both in person and online. While the event included music and the presentation of the Hugenotenprijzen, the Board of Directors used the occasion to address significant institutional challenges.

Board Chair Wilma Scholten and board members Eva Reuling and Gerard van Assem highlighted issues regarding scheduling, student information provision, and the connection between research and education. To combat organizational fragmentation, the university has introduced a new institutional plan aimed at reducing the number of organizational units by 2032. Additionally, the board noted that work is underway on a university-wide plan for artificial intelligence.
