Suso retires from football to become Cádiz CF representative

Jesús Joaquín Fernández, known as Suso, is retiring from professional football and transitioning into a new role at Cádiz CF. The club and its captain have reached an agreement for him to serve as an institutional representative.

Suso’s return to his hometown club in the summer of 2025 was highly anticipated, following a career that included time at Liverpool and a Europa League title with Sevilla. However, his playing impact was limited, recording only one goal and three assists during the previous campaign. The club noted that recent circumstances prevented him from fulfilling the goal of returning Cádiz to the top flight.

Cádiz CF expressed gratitude for his commitment and generosity in making this transition, stating he will remain an image of the club’s colors and crest.
