Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge becomes major tourist destination in China
The Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge, located in southwestern China, has emerged as a significant tourist attraction following its opening in September 2025. Standing 625 meters (2,051 feet) above the Beipan River, the structure is recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s highest bridge.
Beyond its engineering significance, the bridge serves a vital infrastructure purpose by reducing travel time across the canyon from approximately two hours to two minutes, connecting rural mountain communities to the national road network. The 2.9-kilometer span has also become a hub for adventure tourism, hosting activities such as bungee jumping.
Local officials report that the bridge attracted approximately 3.3 million visitors between its opening and August 2026.
