Hualien celebrates indigenous culture through festivals and archery tour
Hualien is hosting a series of cultural events and competitions aimed at preserving and promoting indigenous traditions. The city recently held the Truku Mgay Bari (Thanksgiving Festival) and the Amis Daben Village Harvest Festival. These ceremonies involve traditional songs, dances, and rituals to express gratitude to ancestors and strengthen community bonds.
Additionally, the Hualien County Government has launched the ‘2026 Pacific Indigenous Traditional Archery Tour.’ This event has transitioned into a seven-station circuit across various townships, including Zhuoxi and Fengbin. The tour combines traditional archery skills with cultural exhibitions focused on mountain and coastal lifestyles. The competition features a total prize pool of NT$6.5 million and aims to showcase the wisdom and spirit of indigenous hunter culture.
