Hualien City Office holds Zhongyuan Festival rituals

The Hualien City Office held a Zhongyuan Festival (Hungry Ghost Festival) ritual to pray for smooth municipal operations and the safety of citizens. Led by Mayor Wei Chia-yen, the ceremony involved offerings to heaven and earth to seek favorable weather and successful administration.

Various departments within the city government, including the sanitation, engineering, and library services, also conducted their own rituals. Mayor Wei emphasized that the tradition serves as a reminder to practice gratitude and cherish life, particularly following recent natural disasters such as earthquakes and typhoons in the region.
