Hualien County Government distributes supplies to elderly residents
The Hualien County Government is implementing a care service program for over 2,000 elderly residents living alone. The initiative is being carried out in two phases, with the first phase involving the distribution of approximately 2,100 sets of daily necessities, including hygiene kits and beverages, to alleviate the burden of daily living expenses.
To ensure efficient delivery, the county government has partnered with security firms, including Longbang Security and Shinkong Security, as well as the Hualien County Elderly and Family Care Association. Beyond providing material goods, the program focuses on home safety, with officials checking on the physical health of residents and providing guidance on electrical and gas safety to prevent accidents.
County Magistrate Hsu Chun-wei conducted visits to elderly residents in Ji'an Township and Hualien City, including a visit to a centenarian receiving care at Hualien Hospital. The government aims to continue using social workers and volunteers to monitor the needs of the elderly and promote a safe, elderly-friendly urban environment.
