Hualpén Eje Colón infrastructure works reach 90% completion
Infrastructure works for the Eje Colón in Hualpén have reached 90% completion. Officials project that the section, specifically the Colón Public Transport Corridor (Tramo 4A) between Las Golondrinas and Los Copihues avenues, could be delivered by the end of 2026.
Despite the progress, the project has faced a 17-month delay compared to its original schedule, leading to ongoing complaints from local residents. Current issues reported by neighbors include difficulties with pedestrian movement, lack of proper signage, and flooding caused by the construction of rainwater collectors.
Jorge Escobar, the Director of Transit for the Municipality of Hualpén, noted that while work is proceeding normally, the removal of CGE electrical poles remains a pending task. There is a commitment to begin these electrical works in September.
