Huamantla celebrates cultural traditions and updates festival routes

The town of Huamantla, Tlaxcala, is hosting several major cultural celebrations in August. One of the most significant traditions is ‘La Noche que Nadie Duerme’, held annually on August 14. During this event, artisans spend up to 18 hours creating intricate, colorful sawdust carpets featuring religious symbols, flowers, and birds as an offering to the Virgen de la Caridad, who is honored in a procession.

Additionally, the town is hosting the Feria Internacional del Arte Efímero y de la Dalia, which includes over 500 activities such as concerts, mechanical games, and traditional dances.

Regarding the Huamantlada festivities, the Municipal Bullfighting Committee has announced that the 2026 event will follow its traditional circuit. A proposed expansion of the route through Juárez Street, between Zaragoza and Morelos, has been canceled for this year. Officials stated the decision was made to prioritize community safety, order, and neighborly coexistence following dialogues with local residents regarding infrastructure and mobility concerns.
