Huancayo Municipality seeks dismissal of prosecutor following worker attack

The Municipality of Huancayo has announced plans to seek the dismissal of prosecutor Patricia Pessoa Porras. The move follows her decision to release Craig Albert Enrique Escalante, a suspect investigated for a fire attack that injured nine municipal workers during an eviction operation in the Las Casuarinas passage.

Municipal manager Joshelim Meza León stated that the city will petition the Junín Superior Prosecutor to remove the magistrate from the case and will file a formal complaint for alleged functional misconduct. Additionally, the municipality intends to request disciplinary proceedings through the Bar Association and the National Control Authority of the Public Ministry.

Meza criticized the prosecutor's decision not to request preventive detention, arguing that clear video evidence, testimonies, and physical proof were provided. The municipality is also evaluating a criminal complaint for alleged omission or delay in official duties.
