Huancayo nightclub closure leaves resident trapped for hours

A young man was trapped for more than three hours inside the Esencia nightclub in central Huancayo after municipal authorities welded the establishment's entrances shut during a closure operation.

Alexander Soza, who rents a room on the fourth floor of the building, reported that he became trapped around 6:30 a.m. while attempting to go downstairs for breakfast. He stated he received no warning before the doors were welded. Municipal workers eventually used a grinder to cut through the welding to allow his release.

The Provincial Municipality of Huancayo conducted the closure because the venue allegedly lacked a Technical Inspection of Building Safety certificate. César Ramos, the Citizen Security Manager, questioned why Soza was still inside the building during the intervention and suggested the administrators might have manipulated the doors.

Samuel Quispe, the establishment's administrator, denied these claims, asserting that the venue holds a valid operating license and that the rapid welding constituted an abuse of authority. Quispe indicated he would pursue legal action regarding the incident and the risk posed to the trapped individual.
