Huancayo police arrest teenager for fatal stabbing of student

The National Police of Peru have identified and captured a 17-year-old suspect in the killing of a student named Milán in Huancayo. The victim, a former student of Santa Isabel school, died after being stabbed in the chest.

The incident occurred on Friday the 21st on Calle Real. Security footage captured the moment the teenager used a knife to attack the victim before fleeing the scene. Following an investigation by the Huancayo Criminal Investigation Area (Areincri), the suspect was identified through camera footage and eyewitness accounts from the victim's friends.

The teenager has been placed in preventive detention at the El Tambo juvenile center. If found responsible, he could face up to six years of detention. The victim's father, Rubén Taipe, has called for the maximum legal penalty to be applied.
