Huang Shih-chieh faces allegations of preferential land use

Kuomintang (KMT) lawmakers and Taoyuan City Councilors have accused Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Taoyuan mayoral candidate Huang Shih-chieh of benefiting from preferential treatment regarding land use for his campaign.

The allegations center on the use of approximately 1,655 ping (roughly 5,471 square meters) of public land managed by the Water Resources Agency for his campaign headquarters in Zhongli District. Critics claim the rental cost is suspiciously low—estimated at only 7.5 TWD per ping—and argue that the land was not subject to a proper public bidding process as required by regulations.

Huang Shih-chieh has denied the allegations, stating that the land was applied for legally and all necessary procedures were completed in advance. He characterized the accusations as malicious rumors and negative campaigning by the KMT and Taiwan People's Party, asserting that the approval process was handled by the relevant authorities without special privilege.
