Huanggang Port expected to reopen October 12 with new fast-track clearance

The reconstructed Huanggang Port is expected to reopen on October 12, facilitating smoother travel between Hong Kong and mainland China. The Hong Kong Security Bureau has reported that cross-departmental teams are working day and night to finalize preparations, focusing on details such as passenger flow, transportation, Wi-Fi, and facility comfort to ensure a seamless customs experience.

To enhance efficiency, the Hong Kong Immigration Department has launched registration for a new “Cooperative Inspection” e-Channel. This system allows eligible travelers to undergo a single inspection process, potentially reducing clearance time to as little as 20 seconds. For travelers aged 14 and above, a facial recognition option is available, which may allow for clearance without presenting physical identification documents, though travelers are still advised to carry valid travel documents for verification purposes.

The new facility will feature 134 cooperative inspection automated lanes and 68 traditional manual counters. Registration for the enhanced services can be completed via the “Hong Kong e-Channel” mobile app, at registration points within the port, or through automated service stations.
