Huanggang Port officially opens with joint clearance system

The redeveloped Huanggang Port, a major 24-hour land boundary crossing between Hong Kong and Shenzhen, officially commenced operations on October 12, 2026, at 6:30 AM. The facility is the first between the two cities to implement a ‘Collaborative Inspection and Joint Clearance’ model, allowing passengers to complete both Hong Kong and mainland immigration procedures in a single queue.

Under this new arrangement, automated e-Channel processing takes approximately 20 seconds, while vehicle inspection times have been reduced from roughly 10 minutes to 2 minutes. The port has a design capacity of 200,000 passenger trips per day, with the potential to reach 300,000 following the commissioning of the MTR Northern Link Spur Line.

To support the new crossing, Citybus has launched three dedicated routes: B13 providing full-day service from Hong Kong Island, B14 connecting Kowloon city center, and B15 serving Tuen Mun and the Northern Metropolis on weekends and public holidays. During the first two hours of operation, the port recorded approximately 5,170 travelers and 953 vehicles, representing a significant increase in traffic compared to previous levels.
