Huanta, Peru sees mass protest after police capture alleged extortionists linked to shop bombing

Police in Huanta, Ayacucho region, captured two suspects identified as Jorge Luis Rojas Muñoz and Emerson Crispin Naupa. The men are alleged to have been involved in an improvised explosive device that was detonated at the door of the "Repuestos Tito" shop, causing material damage and alarm among local merchants. The incident was captured on security cameras.

The arrests sparked a large citizen protest in Huanta, with dozens of residents gathering outside the police station and the regional investigative office. Demonstrators displayed signs and shouted demands for stronger action against crime and extortion.
