Huawei adds major development tools to HarmonyOS PCs, targets ultra‑low‑RAM devices

Huawei announced at its HDC 2026 conference that PCs running HarmonyOS will receive a suite of development tools in the fourth quarter of 2026. The package includes IDEs such as DevEco Studio, CodeArts, IntelliJ IDEA and the database tool Navicat Premium, aiming to reduce friction for developers and make the platform more attractive for enterprise and freelance use.

In the same event the company revealed that the upcoming HarmonyOS 7 can operate on devices with as little as 64 KB of RAM, opening the OS to ultra‑low‑resource applications in industrial sensors, smart appliances and medical devices. Huawei also introduced its LogicFolding three‑dimensional chip architecture, which allows chip production with older DUV lithography equipment, mitigating the impact of export restrictions on advanced EUV tools.
