Huawei and HONOR introduce advanced smartphone camera technologies

Huawei has introduced the Ruiying Z10, a specialized photographic module designed for select Mate 90 series smartphones. Unlike standard teleconverters, this device functions as a separate camera that attaches to the phone for power and control. It features a 1-inch 50-megapixel sensor and a 9.1-91mm lens (24–240mm equivalent) with f/2.0-4.5 aperture, providing 10x smooth optical zoom. The module includes optical stabilization, autofocus, and a 19-lens optical system, weighing approximately 346–350 grams. In China, it is priced at 5,999 yuan.

Separately, HONOR has demonstrated the Robot Phone, an experimental device featuring a camera module mounted on a miniature robotic arm. Utilizing a 4DoF (four degrees of freedom) system, the camera can extend from behind a sliding cover and rotate independently of the phone. The mechanism is constructed from titanium and includes three motors, allowing for movement speeds up to 360 degrees per second. The main camera boasts a 200 MP sensor with a 1/1.28-inch matrix and an f/1.6 lens. This device is intended as a demonstration of future AI and camera capabilities for the Chinese market.
