Huawei appoints Eric Xu as Rotating Chairman and unveils AI architecture

Huawei has announced that Eric Xu (Xu Zhijun) will assume the role of Rotating and Acting Chairman starting October 1, 2026, through March 31, 2027. Xu, who joined the company in 1993, succeeds Wang Tao in this six-month leadership term.

In conjunction with leadership updates, Huawei revealed technical advancements in artificial intelligence computing at the HUAWEI CONNECT event. The company introduced the Peerium Computing Architecture, designed to enable one million processors to function as a single computer. This architecture utilizes nested parallelism, unified memory addressing, and peer-to-peer interconnect to achieve large-scale scaling.

To support this architecture, Huawei developed UnifiedBus (UB), a high-speed interconnect technology using an open protocol. This bus is designed to connect CPUs, NPUs, memory, and other components without limit. Additionally, the company announced the Ascend 950 chip and the Atlas 950 SuperPoD as part of its evolving AI hardware roadmap.
