Huawei details Qiankun ADS capabilities for complex driving scenarios
Huawei's Intelligent Automotive Solution BU has detailed how its Qiankun ADS (Advanced Driving System) handles complex driving scenarios. Using the WEWA 2.0 architecture, which combines cloud-based world engines with vehicle-side behavior models, the system is designed to manage specific challenges such as narrow road encounters, sudden pedestrian appearances, and mountain curves.
In narrow road situations, the system is designed not to exit assisted driving mode but to actively reverse to allow oncoming traffic to pass. For “ghost poke” scenarios—where pedestrians or non-motorized vehicles suddenly emerge from blind spots caused by construction or parked cars—the system utilizes multi-sensor fusion and safety risk field technology to predict hidden risks, decelerate, and trigger Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) if necessary.
Additionally, even when intelligent driving is not actively engaged, the CAS 5.0 all-dimensional collision prevention system remains operational. On winding mountain roads, this system uses cameras and LiDAR to monitor road boundaries and speed, providing intervention by smoothing speed reductions if it detects a risk of the vehicle exiting the roadway.
