Huawei expands open-ear audio with FreeClip 2
Huawei is advancing its open-ear wearable lineup with the FreeClip 2, a device designed to blend high-quality audio with aesthetic appeal. The series has maintained a leading market position, ranking first in global sales for clip-on headphones during 2024 and 2025.
The FreeClip 2 utilizes a proprietary C-bridge (Comfort Bridge) architecture made of a titanium-nickel alloy. This design aims to distribute weight across the antihelix to reduce pressure during extended use, addressing common discomfort issues found in traditional in-ear monitors. The device features a directional acoustic projection system rather than silicone ear tips, allowing for better situational awareness.
Technically, the model includes an NPU-integrated SoC for real-time acoustic adjustments and updated Bluetooth protocols to achieve sub-60ms latency. The design has received industry recognition, including the iF Design Award 2026 and the Good Design Award 2025.
