Huawei expands solar PV and storage projects in Italy and Europe

Huawei Digital Power is deepening its collaboration with Italian installer Energy Time, adding more than 70 MW of new photovoltaic plants in Italy this year and targeting a total of 100 MW built between 2024 and 2025. Huawei technology already features in over 150 MW of Energy Time’s project backlog, supporting the firm’s goal of greater national energy self‑sufficiency.

At the Smarter E 2026 conference in Munich, Huawei’s President of Smart PV & ESS, Steven Zhou, outlined the company’s grid‑forming strategy for Europe, where renewable power is expected to reach 64 % of generation by 2030. The strategy integrates photovoltaic, battery‑energy‑storage, EV‑charging and AI scheduling to improve grid stability and replace conventional thermal plants. Pilot projects cited include a 10 % revenue rise for a German business park and a nearly 40 % electricity‑bill reduction for a Carrefour store in Spain.
