Huawei FreeBuds Pro 5 adds world‑first dual‑motor ANC

Huawei has launched the FreeBuds Pro 5 wireless earbuds, introducing the industry’s first dual‑motor active‑noise‑cancellation (ANC) system for earphones. The design combines a high‑precision magnetic linear motor that targets low‑frequency sounds below 300 Hz, such as subway rumble, with an ultra‑thin micro‑membrane flat driver that suppresses mid‑to‑high‑frequency noises from 1 kHz to 8 kHz, including speech and office chatter. Huawei claims the combined system achieves up to a 220 % improvement over the previous generation and reduces ambient noise by roughly 29 dB across the full spectrum.

The earbuds also integrate AI‑driven awareness features. “Awareness Mode” amplifies surrounding sounds for safety, while “Conversation Awareness” automatically lowers volume and switches to a listening mode during brief talks, resuming full ANC after about seven seconds. An “Adaptive Volume” function continuously adjusts playback level to suit the environment.
